Michelle, her parents, and her older brother, Craig Robinson, grew up in a two-story bungalow on Euclid Avenue in Chicago’s South Shore community area. The Robinsons rented a small apartment on the second floor from Michelle’s great-aunt, who lived downstairs.

Michelle was raised United Methodist. She and her husband, Barack, were married in the Trinity United Church of Christ, but the couple later left the church in 2008. After moving to Washington, DC in 2009, Barack and Michelle attended several different Protestant churches including Shiloh Baptist Church and St. John’s Episcopal Church.

How Michelle Met Barack Obama

Michelle met her future husband, Barack, while they were both working at Chicago’s Sidley Austin LLP law firm.
